Mark J. Carter Networking TipsWhat to Do, Not to Do When Reconnecting With Your Network
CHICAGO – You’ve probably heard it before: “You know more people than you realize. You’re sitting on a potential gold mine of clients.”
So many articles, seminars, CD sets and books give the same advice: write down the names of 10 people you know, then write 10 more, pick the number they tell you to stop at (whether it’s 10 or 100 people) and start contacting these people. It’s usually with a phone call or e-mail that goes something like this: “Hello, (person). This is (your name here). It has been a while since we’ve talked. It would be great to catch up and let you know what I’ve been up to and about some new things that are going on.” Some people might add a line like: “I’d like to hear what you’ve been up to as well” or maybe they just stop at “let’s catch up”. |
