How Can I Maximize My Speed Networking Experience?

Speed networking events provide a forum that allows you to maximize your networking efforts.
Unlike traditional mixers where you may roam around a room and be unsure who you will meet, SpeedNetworking.com events are engineered to ensure you are meeting people who may help you reach your objective more efficiently. To maximize your targeted networking, here is a list of suggested tips from veterans of speed networking events:
- Register early and select the industries or categories you wish to network with at the event.
Two days before the event, log back in to your networking account and reevaluate your networking preferences
so you make the best connections.
- Practice the opening remarks you will discuss during your brief meetings. It’s best to keep your business objectives short and to the point (no more than 30 seconds).
- If you’re looking to promote your business, bring a one-page flyer or a basic brochure. People are
often turned off if you present big brochures or several pieces of marketing material during speed networking events.
- Ask good questions about the objectives of your partners and engage the conversations.
They will be more fired up to assist you knowing that you showed interest in their objectives.
- Engage the person you are meeting with by asking good questions that are relevant to your objective.
- Ask your partner if he or she understands your objectives. In many cases, people
don’t clearly understand someone’s objectives. If someone doesn’t comprehend your objectives, explain
them in a different way.
- Make it a goal to follow up with at least five people you met at the event. Take the initiative to meet up with at least
three of the five in person and continue to build the relationship.
- Invite another person from your firm so each of you can maximize branding your objectives
and services.
- Invite another business professional to the event. When the event is over, you can trade notes on the people you met and see if you can make additional connections.
- If you encounter someone in a similar profession at the event, don’t panic! This may provide an opportunity to learn from
each other and learn more about your competitor products. There actually may be synergy between the two of you (i.e. one person sells financial planning for individuals and the other sells financial planning for small businesses).

Recent SpeedNetworking.com Testimonials
“As a board member of the Young Non-Profit Professionals Network in
Chicago, I partnered with SpeedNetworking.com on a crossover
event between the corporate and non-profit sectors. The event was
flawlessly managed and incredibly well received. I would highly recommend
not only the concept but also the talent and energy of Michael Slater.”
~ Ray Nedohon, Young Non-Profit Professionals
“Michael Slater created the concept of growing your network quickly but with a
continued focus on building quality relationships. It’s difficult to mix
speed and numbers with quality when it comes to building relationships. He continues to innovate
and evolve around it to make it possible. I would recommend SpeedNetworking.com to any organization that wants to help its
constituents interact more and learn how to build relationships.”
~ Michael Tomasello, former president of Purdue University alumni in
