CHICAGO – Do you wonder how top sales executives became top sales executives? Do you hear that they are attending a golf outing or their business club luncheons? At the same time, do you notice that they don’t make many cold calls?
Our business world is driven by relationships. With increased competition in business markets and endless methods to sell products and services, one process has remained extremely powerful: personal relationships. The power of personal relationships drives a significant amount of business deals locally, nationally and internationally and continues to be a driving force for closing deals.
Personal relationships are often connected with trust, which is an essential component of sales and a major factor why business deals are closed. For this reason, many business professionals rely on business networking efforts to increase personal relationships and are constantly exploring new business relationships.
Many different structured networking programs exist to assist busy business professionals with expanding their business relationship objectives. The cost structures to join these programs range from free to thousands of dollars. Meanwhile, some may be open to the public and some are exclusive memberships and limited in size.
Despite which program you choose, each one offers significant value to help expand business networking opportunities. It is critical for you to put forth a good effort to build relationships and assist others in the group to expand their networking efforts.
To find these structured networking groups in your area, you can begin with the local chamber of commerce, your alma mater or you can check your local business event listings to identify business groups in your area. Once you explore initial opportunities, you will often learn about many other networking groups that may better suit your networking needs.
Keep in mind that business relationships often don’t form over night. While they take time, they can be extremely rewarding and lead to an endless channel of business opportunities. Make sure you take the necessary steps to nurture the business relationships you believe will greatly benefit you. It will often reward you in more ways than you have considered.
